GAMEPLAY UPDATES

GROUND GAME RESPONSIVENESS

A 'before and after' sequence from a UFC game, showing a fighter countering a high kick and transitioning smoothly into a dynamic takedown.
A 'before and after' look at the grappling UI in a UFC game, where initiating a transition expands the available moves from one to four options.
A 'before and after' comparison in a UFC game, showing how the grappling UI simplifies after a player denies an opponent's transition attempt on the ground.
  • Takedowns: Fighters can now move immediately upon hitting the ground for all takedowns, ensuring consistent responsiveness across all ground entries.
  • Transition Starts: Fighters can branch from transition starts earlier to speed up fakes and exchanges, actively encouraging more dynamic grappling exchanges.
  • Transition Successes: Fighters can act immediately after completing a transition, eliminating awkward pauses as they reach new positions.
  • Denials: Recovery after denials and reversals is now faster, ensuring successful defense translates into counter-grappling opportunities instantly.

Developer comment: We've improved responsiveness across the Ground Game by allowing fighters to act sooner in the moment-to-moment grappling. Our previous patch brought this improvement to the most common takedowns. This patch brings it to all remaining takedowns and extends the benefit to the ground game as a whole. The improved Transition Start animations change gameplay the most, as they encourage more fakes and proactive tactics and make grappling exchanges feel much more dynamic. Our goal with these changes is to inject speed and fluidity into the grappling system. By reducing recovery times across takedowns, transitions, and denials, we eliminate awkward pauses, promote activity, and keep the fight's momentum flowing.

GLOBAL & SYSTEM

  • CRASH & STABILITY
    • Fixed a crash that could occur during the initial boot sequence.
  • CAREER
    • Fixed an issue that caused the game to enter a softlock when the player immediately returned to the Hub after replying to Social Media.

FIGHTERS & GAMEPLAY

  • GAMEPLAY MECHANICS
    • Fixed an issue that caused submission entries to cost less stamina than intended if the attacker performed some extra inputs.
    • Fixed a rare issue where a Doctor Stoppage could happen after a Knockout.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented some fighters from slamming the opponent after lifting them with a Power Takedown.
    • Fixed the Posture (idle and locomotion animations) of Quillan Salkilld and Lone’er Kavanagh.
    • Further increased the CPU’s aggression during some Flow States.
    • Made the CPU more likely to use strikes benefiting from the active Flow State. It was already more likely to use such strikes, but we further increased the probability.
    • Fixed a rare issue that could cause the CPU to become passive after one of its submission attempts was denied.
    • Corrected the default stance for Casey O'Neill and Manon Fiorot to match their real-world counterparts.
  • ANIMATIONS
    • Fixed an issue where Jan Blachowicz's intro animation was not playing correctly.
    • Addressed a bug causing a specific leg kick animation to appear unnatural.
    • Fixed an issue where elbow deformation was observed when playing as Frank Mir while performing a Guillotine submission.
    • Fixed a clipping issue associated with CAF boardshorts when equipped to female body types.
    • Fixed an issue causing a clipping issue with Rich Franklin's mouthguard during the in-between round and post-fight sequences.
  • CAMERA
    • Fixed a camera issue in the Back Clinch Forward Drive Turning Suplex Scramble.
    • Fixed camera issues in takedown denials from the Over Under clinch position.
    • Fixed a camera issue in some diving punches into the Knee on Belly position.
    • Fixed a camera issue in a Sway Transition (Ground and Pound Reversal) from Knee on Belly to Half Guard.
  • AUDIO
    • Fixed a fighter-specific commentary that mentioned 'Gunnar Nelson' starts with a 'Southpaw' stance, when he starts with an Orthodox stance.
    • Fixed commentary lines from triggering consecutively on selecting 'Gunnar Nelson' in both corners.

GAME MODES

  • CREATE A FIGHTER (CAF)
    • Fixed an issue where a Beard Style was not rendering correctly in CAF vanity selections.
    • Addressed a bug where "TUF" Custom Shorts were not displaying properly in CAF vanity selections.

UI & PRESENTATION

  • MENUS
    • Fixed a bug where the Fighter Select logo was not appearing for certain fighters.
    • Addressed an issue in the Main Menu where a specific tile was not displaying the correct art.
    • Updated the values in the Training Manual’s Perks section to reflect the newest tuning (from Patch 1.3). The updated Perks were: Stinger, Tiger, Point Down, and Electric Eel.
    • Updated Georges St-Pierre event icon to match the correct event associated with the skin.
    • Freedom 250 Gloves now show the correct thumbnail image in CAF vanity selections.
    • Fixed an issue where the control preset wouldn’t automatically update based on the newly selected selection.
    • Fixed an issue causing the UI to become unresponsive after purchasing an item from the Fight Store.
    • Fixed an issue where "Flow Boost" and "Flow State" text were missing under each perk for the fighter selections.

FUTURE CHANGES

Developer comment: The following changes are NOT included in the 1.5 Patch, but are being worked on for future updates.

September 29th Update

  • Adjustments to Roundhouse Kicks Variants and Skins related to changes made on Patch 1.4.
    • Reverting several fighters’ Heavy Variants to Fast Variants.
    • Changing several fighters’ Heavy Variants Skins to more technical-looking Skins.

Changes in Future Patches

  • Fixing instances of Parries being activated without player input (Auto-Parry bug).
  • Fixing instances of denied or missed Takedowns that don’t cost stamina.
  • Fixing Ground and Pound issues that allow the defender to block too soon after attempting to sway (Bobble Head). We have been making progress on this very complex fix, but it is still going through iterations and testing.
  • We are investigating occasional “Hanging Transitions,” in which fighters sometimes take an unusually long time to complete a transition or initiate a denial animation.
  • We are investigating an issue where body attacks cannot be blocked when getting up from Active Knockdowns.
