The Hall of FUT™ Inaugural Class

Eighteen years ago, Ultimate Team was born.

From an experiment in a non-annual franchise release to a worldwide phenomenon, Ultimate Team brought the FC community together year-over-year to celebrate footballers at all levels of competition. It wasn’t always about the biggest names, the unlikely heroes that the community discovered also defined FUT culture. And although they might not be ICONS, they still deserve an honor for the memories they created for our community.

Enter the Hall of FUT.  

Players inducted into the Hall of FUT, a new Player Item type, are considered Ultimate Team’s iconic players on the virtual pitch.

More information about the Hall of FUT - including additional inductees and ways to add these players to your squad - will be available closer to launch.

For now, as part of the EA SPORTS FC™ 27 Ultimate Plus Edition, you can receive a Hall of FUT (1 of 5) Player Pick of these five players from the inaugural Hall of FUT class:

Adebayo Akinfenwa

A man known by one word: Beast.

Born in North London with nearly 700 club appearances, Akinfenwa’s career primarily stretched across the English Football League with several notable in-form performances for Northampton Town and Wycombe Wanderers. Considered by the FC community as one of the strongest footballers in recent memory, his game is defined by punishing defenders with an aggressive, physical style of play.

Across multiple years, his near-incomprehensible strength translated into an Ultimate Team Player Item with a high Physicality attribute. In fact, two such Player Item versions - a Hero Player Item and an SBC Special to celebrate the end of his storied career - had his Physicality maxed out at 99.

Akinfenwa is a community icon for a reason. Without question, he is our first inaugural member of the Hall of FUT.

Marouane Fellaini

Strength is not only reserved for beasts: sometimes, the sign of a strong footballer is a nice head of hair.

Marouane Fellaini, recognized by his signature afro and 6’ 4” stature, represented his country of Belgium proudly and reliably started for top Premier League clubs Everton and Manchester United for over a decade. His physical, high work-rate play won him hundreds, if not thousands, of battles box-to-box, whether it was to save a clean sheet for his club or eventually send one into the back of the net.

At one point, Fellaini - AKA “Fele” - had one of the highest physicality ratings, and in this decade, his Rulebreakers Player Item combined his often well-rounded statistics and solid frame with unreal pace. 

And although more details will come on his exact Hall of FUT Player Item, we can confirm that will have his afro.

Loïc Rémy

A memorable Gold Rare Player Item that community veterans looked to add to their teams early across multiple years of  FUT history, Loïc Rémy is the definition of “pace.” 

Known for making incredible runs, such as his screamer for QPR against Wigan Athletic in 2013 (your homework: find and watch this goal for yourself), Rémy established his career across multiple top-flight clubs. In under two decades, he contributed to three Trophée des Championships, two Coupe de la Ligue tournament wins, a Ligue 1 title, and Chelsea’s 2014-15 Premier League title under “the Special One.” 

In the early FUT years, the community remembers Rémy as a Player Item to consider based on his statistics and his links to French and Ligue 1 players. Towards the end of his career, his Moments Player Item, available through an SBC, was another strong community memory, as it emphasized his acceleration, speed, four-star skills, good dribbling, and high finishing stats that many remember him by year-over-year.

Eljero Elia

Another fast option in the attacking third, specifically on the wings, Eljero Elia is a Dutch Surinamese left winger with a globetrotting career earmarked by a memorable Ultimate Team history. 

Elia began and ended his career at one of his boyhood clubs in the Eredivisie, but found work in the Bundesliga, Serie A, and the Premier League with nearly 500 club appearances. His game is defined by streaking along the touchlines to get the ball as close to the goal as possible. In a pinch, he could outrun defenders, make use of the heel-to-heel flick, spins, and ball rolls, and send one into the back of the net. 

Over multiple FUT years, his Gold Player Item consistently featured a Pace stat that hovered at or above 90, as well as great dribbling attributes combined with four-star skills, making him a shoo-in for the Hall of FUT.

Giovani Dos Santos

Last, but certainly not least in the trio of pacey strikers, Giovani Dos Santos was considered one of the many Mexican “wonderkids” of his era, much like a certain current 17-year-old making an impact on The World’s Game. Those who dipped into old Manager Career modes may recall his 92 potential while he was a product of the FC Barcelona youth program, as he was one of the most exciting teenagers of the time coming out of the Western Hemisphere.

After Barcelona, Dos Santos joined Tottenham with several loan moves before settling in Mallorca, jumping across to Villareal, and eventually coming back to North America at LA Galaxy, heralded as their first Mexican star since the early 2000’s. During this time, he made over 100 appearances for his national team, ultimately finishing his career at one of the “Big Four” of Liga BBVA MX: Club America.

The Ultimate Team community remembers Dos Santos for his fast pace, four-star skills, four-star weak foot, and superb shooting statistics… And as of today, that legacy includes a Hall of FUT honor. As the current Mexican roster looks to expand in FC 27, this clever striker can be your selection for the Hall of FUT Player Pick (through the EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Plus Edition) should you aim to build an El Tri “past and present” squad.
